General Notes:
Sometime in the 1750's he moved with his family to St. Croix. On Oct. 17 1767 He petieioned the Danish King to grant him a title of Baron On 18 Dec. 1767 he was created Baron de Bretton. In the roll of nobility the title is stated as Baron von Bretton, but on the Patent it is Baron de Bretton, and almost all members of the family have called themselves de Bretton.
Johannes married Helena (Helene) Du Moulin, daughter of Paul De Moulin and Anna Margarethe Ronneberg, in 1743 in St. Thomas, Danish West Indies. (Helena (Helene) Du Moulin was born in 1727 in St. Thomas, Danish West Indies and died on 10 Aug 1768 in St. Croix, Danish West Indies.)
Johannes also married Angenesa Van Stell, daughter of Abraham Van Stell and Susanna Van Uytendaele, in 1738. (Angenesa Van Stell died in 1742.)
